Chickweed is an abundant, delicious, nutritious green. You can eat it the same way you’d eat any green. I like to nibble it raw. Best when it’s young like this. Historically, chickweed was grown in gardens for food and medicine. Today, many people are trying to rid their lawns and gardens of it. Chickweed is high in iron. Has been used medicinally for lungs, skin, arthritis, menstrual pain, and more. Be sure to identify it properly and wash before consuming. Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding.
